What you will learn

Coiling is one of the oldest basketry techniques, where material is wrapped and stitched around a core. A basket is formed by spiralling the core upwards from a flat base. You will learn the difference between a covered core and exposed core, as well as different stitching techniques, which give the basket different textures. You will experiment with different materials for the core and stitching, and also learn how to create patterns by changing colour.
